FAIRMONT HOTELS & RESORTS STRIKE GOLD & SILVER WITH GOLF MAGAZINE
Prestigious list recognizes 8 of luxury brand’s collection, more than any other hotel company
According to GOLF Magazine’s Premier Resort List, a bi-annual GOLF Magazine reader’s poll, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts epitomizes the Gold and Silver standard, with eight of its world-class properties making the cut in North America for 2010.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts earned a combined eight medals in the Gold and Silver categories, more than any other hotel company.
Representing Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the Gold category for 2010 were Alberta’s Fairmont Banff Springs and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, which moved up from Silver in 2008. Also, earning a Gold Medal and debuting in GOLF Magazine’s Premier Resort List for 2010 is The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii located on the Big Island.
Five additional Fairmont properties earned Silver Medals for 2010, including British Columbia’s The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Mexico’s Fairmont Mayakoba (home of the PGA TOUR’s Mayakoba Golf Classic), Arizona’s Fairmont Scottsdale (home of the PGA TOUR’s Waste Management Phoenix Open), California’s Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Florida’s Fairmont Turnberry Isle.
More than 6,000 GOLF Magazine readers participated in the online poll at www.golf.com. Medals were awarded to golf resorts based upon the quality of golf, lodging, food & drink, and guest service at each property. Forty percent of the score was based upon the quality of golf at a given property while the balance (60 percent) was determined by a property’s performance in the other three areas.
